«Juan Diaz chosen the 24 players»

The coach of the Men’s Senior National Team, Juan Diaz, announced today the list of 24 players called for the Portuguese Team. On May 4th he will present the final list of 18 players who will compete in the FIVB Volleyball World League 2011.

The Portuguese National Team begins its participation in the World League in 2011 with the reception of Finland, [28th and 29th of May] and Argentina [4th and 5th of June], then they will travel to Serbia [10th and 11th of June] and Argentina [18th and 19th of June]. Afterwards, on 25th and 26th of June, Portugal will welcome Serbia, ending this Intercontinental Phase in Finland [30th of June and 1st of July].

All matches to be played in Portugal during the Intercontinental Phase will be held in the hall “Pavilhão Desportivo Municipal da Povoa de Varzim” and are scheduled to start at 16h00.

The work training of the National Team is scheduled to start on April 18th at the hall “Pavilhão Desportivo Municipal Povoa de Varzim”, integrating the players as they end their participation in official competitions.

In the World League 2005, Portugal reached an historic fifth place and was then the only team to defeat Brazil - team with most titles in the World League (9).
