U22 DEFENDING CHAMPIONS AIM FOR THE GOLD
25-08-2015

Norwegian Christian Sandlie Sorum and Runar Torsvik Sannarnes are the Men U22 reigning European Champions as well as the Polish tandem Jagoda Gruszcynska/Karolina Baran who took the gold of the women’s tournament in 2014 at Fethiye, Turkey.

This year, at Macedo de Cavaleiros, both of the teams are expecting heavy competition but they are ready to defend their titles.

“We are expecting to play well and give everything in every match, although there are many good teams which will benefit the tournament”, starts Sorum, adding “this event is the main competition for us this year, so we are highly motivated”.

Sannarnes who teams up with U19 World Championship silver medalist Sorum, curiously won at Porto, Portugal, thinks this partnership has much to hope for.
“It will be difficult to win again, the competition is very good, but we will do everything to have good results”, said the Norwegian who has said “many beach volleyball players from around the world had influence me”. As for Christian Sorum, “my favorite players of all time are the Brazilian Emanuel Rego and Ricardo Santos.

Also motivated by last year’s victory, the Polish duo wants another run to the gold against their countrywomen Katarzina Kociolek and Dorota Strag, who had to settle for silver in an all Polish final.
“We want to do our best to be the best. We have been working to take on the competition and win the gold medal once again, hopefully. We think that our main competitors are our partners Katarzina and Dorota, so it would be beautiful to reach the final against them again”.
“It’s our first look at the venue, we think that is really nice and we hope to take good memories of it”, they concluded.
