It was a sunny Sunday, when the village of Castro Verde welcomed the Gira-Volei/Outdoor Volley Regional Circuit – 2nd Stage, an event within the Volley Stand Up Project and held by the Alentejo Volleyball Association (AVAL) with the participation of over 300 young athletes from Castro Verde, Almodôvar and Odemira. Qualified teams: boys and girls The AVAL circuit will promote further events in May, at Vila Nova de Milfontes, Castro Verde (Golden and Silver Stage), Odemira, Beja and Évora. Amareleja and Almodôvar will host two Bronze Stages during April and May, in a sinergy between shools, City Hall and AVAL, with the organization of the Inter-Scholar Tournaments. At this Regional Circuit Stage, the focus is on the strong participation of Milfontes Beach Sports Club, a club that seeks to build a volleyball team thus choosing Gira-Volei as the initial project for volleyball practice and recorded victories in both frames of competition. At the end of the event, Ana Cristina Luis, head of CDP Milfontes, said that “it's fun to see so much excitement and joy in our athletes, who competed for the first time with other clubs. These events, practiced outdoors, help promote and disseminate volleyball throughout the region”. AVAL, through its President, Paulo Pinho, made a “positive balance” of the organization in this activity, making the promise of “continuous appreciation of the Gira-Volei Regional Circuit over the years, making it one of the most important volleyball events on the region of Alentejo and Algarve”.
