SOLIDARITY INITIATIVE AT THE
VITÓRIA PARISH CENTER

As it has been a tradition in the Christmas time, the Portuguese Volleyball Federation (FPV) through the Gira-Volei program personnel and volleyball player Miguel Maia will carry a solidarity initiative in institutions which help the underprivileged children and young people to prepare for a brighter future.

This year the initiative will be carried at the Parish Social Center of Our Lady of Vitória, in Porto, namely at the Day-Care Center and the After School Recreation (ATL) of this institution, tomorrow (December 19) at 10h00, with the goal of taking some joy to the children and young people in need.

The Parish Social Center of Our Lady of Vitória is an institution of Social Solidarity whose main objective consists in developing a structured work and of extent enlarged in what refers to the local community's development: the parish of Vitória.

These areas are developed in several social equipments that the center disposes, embracing different age groups and problems, all of them associated, in last analysis, to situations of great vulnerability and fragility of the social point of view.

With the collaboration of SC Espinho’s Miguel Maia, 3-time Beach Volleyball Olympic athlete, who is always ready to help the social causes, especially those among the young people and children, the FPV initiative has once again been endorsed by the social institutions.
It’s with renewed hope that FPV and Gira-Volei intend to put a smile on the about 80 children and young people faces, present at the day-care center and ATL of this institution, somehow contributing for a moment of happiness.

“I believe that is very important to be able to support those in need. I feel like I’m contributing to someone’s happiness. To be able to give love and affection to the children who are in a fragile situation and who feel very deep the holydays season, it’s something that is within our reach and that we should not waste. There is no greater victory than a children’s smile”, stated Miguel Maia.
