VI GIRA-VOLEI’S EDUCATIONAL
GUIDES NATIONAL MEETING

The Portuguese Volleyball Federation (FPV), along with Lusófona University, will held the VI Gira-Volei’s Educational Guides Meeting, on next December 15.

The meeting will take place at Lusófona facilities, in Lisbon, being the target audience Gira-Volei’s center managers, educational guides, volleyball regional managers, city hall managers, teachers, college students and those interested.

Under the motto “Gira-Volei’s educational enhancement” the VI National Meeting will include the lectures of Leonel Salgueiro, Gira-Volei’s National Coordinator, António Guerra, FPV Technical & Development, Nuno Corte-Real, FADEUP lecturer and AA São Mamede Volleyball manager, and Mário Simões, teacher at the Higher School of Sports of Viana do Castelo Polytechnic Institute.
Carlos Prata, FPV Development Coordinator and Vitor Pereira Gira-Volei Technical Department will join Leonel Salgueiro moderating.

According to the organization, the VI Gira-Volei’s Educational Guides National Meeting “has the purpose to provide coaches/teachers who work with Gira-Volei, training with specialists in the sport’s organization, together with instruments and innovative concepts in the practice of Gira-Volei”. Meanwhile, Volleyball will be present at the Olympic Week, Portugal’s biggest Olympism promotion event, which will take place in Porto, for the first time ever, from 10-14 December 2012.

João Brenha and Miguel Maia (in picture), athletes who participated 3 times in the Olympics in the Beach Volleyball event, will be signing autographs on December 13, from 10h30m to 12h00.

The Olympic Week is an event organised by the Olympic Athletes Committee (CAO) with the collaboration of the Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP) and the School of Sports of the University of Porto (FADEUP), with the institutional support of the Portuguese Sports & Youth Institute (IPDJ).

The event will take place at FADEUP’s facilities, where the participants will have the opportunity to practice such sports as Athletics, Handball, Boxing, Canoeing, Fencing, Gymnastics, Golf, Hockey, Judo, Swimming, Rugby, Taekwondo, Tennis, Table Tennis and Volleyball.
