PORTUGUESE AROUND EUROPE
 

Six wins and six losses for the Portuguese around Europe, in the last weekend matches
In Germany, João José’s VFB Friedrichshafen defeated Moerser SC (3-0: 25-21, 28-26 e 25-22), thus keeping its 3rd place of Bundesliga 1.
The Portuguese middle blocker obtained 11 points (8 attacks, 2 blocks, 1 serve). On the next round, scheduled for December 15, Friedrichshafen visits VC Dresden, currently 10th in the standings.
For the CEV Champions League Pool A, and without any hopes of reaching the playoffs, João José’s team will host tomorrow Hypo Tirol Innsbruck.

Despite losing its match against DJK Delbruck (0-3: 28-30, 18-25 e 24-26), Marcel Gil’s RWE Volleys Bottrop maintained the leadership of Bundesliga 2 North.
On the next round Gil and his teammates will host VSG Ammerland, 12th in the standings.

Tânia Duarte’s VG Wiwa Hamburg lost to VC Parchim (1-3) but maintained the 7th spot of Germany’s North Regional - Women.
On the next round, (December 15) Wiwa visits the current leader, Wiker SC.

In France, Nuno Pinheiro’s Tours VB emerged victorious in Toulouse (3-1: 23-25, 25-23, 25-22 e 25-17), hence continuing to lead League Pro A. The Portuguese setter recorded 7 points (5 serves, 2 blocks).
Next week, the French champions host Nantes Rezé, current in the 3rd place, and on January 8, will go head-to-head with Asnières V92 for the Cup of France round of 16.
However, next Wednesday, Tours VB will host Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle, for the CEV Champions League – Pool C.

On its turn, André Lopes’ Chaumont Volley-Ball 52 Haute Marne descended to the 8th place after losing in Cannes (2-3: 17-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-23 e 12-15). Despite the result, the Portuguese hitter was accounted for 18 points (16 attacks, 2 serves).
Next weekend, Chaumont hosts 11th Montpellier. For the Cup of France round of 16, Lopes’ team will host Arago de Sète on January 8 of 2013.
Still in France, Carlos Teixeira’s Stade Poitevin Volley Beach, currently 2nd of Nationale 1 - Pool B, visits next weekend, Entente Beaucourt/Sochaux (7th), while Renata Guerreiro’s Asul Lyon Volley, which leads undefeated Nationale 3 – Pool B Women, hosts Volley Bron Lyn Lumière (4th) on December 16.

In Italy, Gulinelli and the Ferreira Bros. BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte, won against CMC Ravenna by 3-2 (18-25, 25-18, 19-25, 25-22 e 15-11) and climbed to the 9th position of Serie A1.
Alexandre Ferreira recorded 15 points (12 attacks, 2 blocks, 1 serve), while his brother Marco, managed to gain a point in the block, although playing only for a few minutes.
Next weekend, Castellana hosts Altotevere San Giustino which holds the 10th spot.
This match will be live broadcasted on December 16 at 17h00 (local time) on RAI Sport 2.

In Norway, Stod Volley Steinkjer, coached by André Sá, played 2 matches for the Elite Division – Women. On Saturday lost to Oslo (0-3: 18-25, 16-25 e 25-27) leader of the competition, while on Sunday beat (3-0: 25-20, 25-16 e 25-14) Koll in their own turf.
Next weekend, also with a double-header, Stod will defend the 4th place against Forde and BSI, current 3rd and 2nd respectively.
For the Cup of Norway Final, scheduled for January 19, Stod will face Oslo Volley.
However, this Wednesday Stod will play the return match for the CEV Challenge Cup against Jedinstvo Brcko, being the Norwegian obligated to win the match and the Golden Set in order to advance.

In Poland, Tiago Violas’ Jastrzebski Wegiel SA climbed to the 3rd place of Plus Liga, following its victory over AZS Politechnika Narszawska (3-2: 20-25, 25-13, 16-25, 25-11 e 15-13).
Next weekend the Portuguese setter’s team will visit Lotos Trefl Gdansk (9th).

Rui Santos’ Chênois Volleyball Club claimed the 5th spot of the Swiss League following a double-header weekend. Win over VBC Lutry-Lavaux por 3-0 (25-23, 25-17 e 25-17) on Saturday, and loss to Volley Nafels I (2-3: 20-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-20 e 8-15) on Sunday.
Next weekend Chênois has the difficult task to visit the 2nd ranked Volley Amriswill I.

Before that, this Wednesday, the Swiss team will play the 2nd leg match for the CEV Challenge Cup against CVC Gabrovo, being Chênopis obligated to win the match and the Golden Set in order to advance.

In Spain, Nuria Silva and Bonémia Gomes’ UCAM Voley Murcia held on the 6th place of Women’s Superleague, despite the loss at the hands of Nuchar Tramek Murillo (1-3: 11-25, 22-25, 25-22 e 18-25).
Bonémia didn’t play, while Núria had a great performance recording 10 points (9/9 attacks and 1 block).
Next weekend, Murcia visits Santa Cruz de Tenerife, current 9th in the standings.
