PORTUGUESE AROUND EUROPE
 

The foreign clubs which have Portuguese players in their rosters, had a fullfiling weekend thanks the victories of Friedrichshafen, Bottrop, Castellana Grotte, Stod Volley, Tours, Chaumont, Chênois, Asul e Poitiers. Murcia, Wegiel and Wiwa were the exception.

In Germany, the double-fixture round resulted well for João José’s VFB Friedrichshafen, which climbed to the 3rd position of Bundesliga 1. Friedrichshafen won both matches in straight sets, first Netzhoppers KW 3-0 (25-19, 25-20 e 25-20) following VCO Berlin (3-0: 25-12, 25-19 e 25-22). On the next round the German team will host Rottenburg, currently 6th ranked team. João José’s team will play in Belgium against Knack Roeselare for the CEV Champions League, matchday 3.
On their turn, Marcel Gil’s RWE Volleys Bottrop won against Tecklenburg Land Volleys in straight sets (3-0: 25-13, 25-19 e 29-27), thus maintaining the lead of Bundesliga 2 North.
In Germany’s Regional North – Women Tânia Duarte’s VG Wiwa Hamburg kept the 7th place in the standings despite their loss against Lubecker TS by 1-3.

André Sá’s Stod Volley qualified for the Norwegian Cup semi-finals, after beating OSI Volley in straight sets (3-0: 25-18, 25-23 e 25-20). Now, the Portuguese coach team will know its opponent in the draw that will be held today.

Moving to France, Nuno Pinheiro’s Tours VB regained the 1st place of League Pro A, as they beat Montpellier in straight sets (3-0: 25-22, 26-24 e 25-15) with 4 points recorded by the Portuguese setter. On the next round the defending champions will host Rennes (8th), after visiting tomorrow the Servian team of Belgrad Red Star for the CEV Champions League.
On the other hand, André Lopes Chaumont Volley-Ball 52 Haute Marne gained 3 spots in the standings, currently holding the 9th place, after beating Toulouse in straight sets: 3-0 (25-19, 26-24 e 25-19). The Portuguese player recorded 9 points (7 attacks and 2 blocks).
Still in France, Carlos Teixeira’s o Stade Poitevin Volley Beach, playing at home, won (3-1: 20-25, 25-19, 25-21 e 25-12) FL Saint-Quentin, and continues their pursuit to the leader of Nationale 1 – Pool B. On the next round, Poitiers will play Amicale Laique de Caudry (3rd).
On their turn, o Asul Lyon Volley and Renata Guerreiro, defeated Stade Clermontois (3-0: 25-13, 25-10 e 25-13), thus continuing undefeated and improving to 6 consecutive victories in straight sets.

From Italy, BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte, coached by National Team Head Coach, Flavio Gulinelli, and where the Ferreira brothers play, kept their 11th place after obtaining their fisrts victory this season against Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia 3-0 (25-23, 25-21 e 25-14). Alexandre Ferreira recorded 12 points for his team (10 attacks, 1 block, and 1 service), while his brother Marco didn’t play.

In Poland, Tiago Violas Jastrzebski Wegiel SA fell to the 5th place, after losing with Zaksa Kozle, leader of the competition, by 0-3 (19-25, 18-25 e 15-25).

Rui Santos Chênois Volleyball Club beat Volley Smash 05 Laufenburg (3-1: 28-26, 25-13, 21-25 e 25-19) on the opponent’s turf, thus climbing to the 6th place of the standings.

In Spain, Núria Lopes da Silva and Bonémia Gomes UCAM Voley Murcia, kept the 3rd place despite their loss, at home, at the hands of GH Ecay Leadernet (2-3: 25-22, 21-25, 20-25, 25-20 e 13-15). Bonémia posted 8 points (7 attacks, 1 block), while Núria completed 4 attacks.
On the next round, Murcia will visit Haro Rioja Voley, which currently holds the 2nd place with the same points of the leader, Nuchar Tramek Murillo.
