PORTUGAL WILL PLAY IN THE
2014 YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES
 

The 2014 Youth Olympic Games to be held in the Chinese city of Nanjing, will include, for the first time ever the Beach Volleyball event.

Being one of the 26 sporting events, the beach volleyball competition will give the chance of living the Olympic dream to 144 athletes, 36 teams of each gender, coming from five different continental confederations (CEV, CSV, NORCECA, AVC and CAVB), that will be represent each by six teams, plus the hosting country team and five that are to be assigned by Youth Olympic Games Commission.

The Portuguese Volleyball Federation (FPV) has already begun preparing the Portuguese prospects. A group of selected athletes (with ages from 15-18 y.o) will be practicing the entire year in the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP) facilities and their work will be included in the FPV’s High Level Training Center activities.

The drafting will begin shortly and training will be held twice a week until the qualification round, scheduled between 1 April 2013 and 8 June 2014.
