FPV GOVERNING BODIES
INAUGURATION DAY
 

The Portuguese Volleyball Federation Governing Bodies, led by Vicente Araújo, were inaugurated in a ceremony that took place in the Fernando Jorge de Araújo Barros Auditory, located in the FPV HQ.

Many important people from sports and government were present in this ceremony. Alexandre Mestre, Sport & Youth Secretary of State, Vicente Moura, Olympic Comitee President, Rosa Mota, former Olympic medalist, the Angolan Volleyball Federation President, the Portuguese Canoeing Federation President, several City Hall representatives, volleyball associations and clubs.

Rolando Sousa, FPV General Assembly President and former FPV President, remembered the last mandates of re-elected president:
“Vicente Araújo has elevated the standards of Portuguese volleyball. For this final four-year-term mandate I wish him and the other governing bodies every success".

Vicente Araújo, FPV President since 1996 and member of FIVB Executive Group has defined the priorities for his fifth consecutive mandate, with the objective of change the national sport.
“Aware of the difficult times we live in, but with no fear and with the conviction that we are capable of, we will work hard in the pursuit for excellence, even taking risks of making mistakes, as it’s better that we act knowing that we can be sorry, than being sorry for doing nothing", stated Vicente Araújo, quoting Boccacio.
So we propose to do as follows:
•Consolidate the development and expression of the Portuguese volleyball generating a new Olympic cycle that will culminate in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games;
•Consolidate volleyball as an attractive product for media and economic agents;
•Consolidate the development and expansion program Gira-Volei and Gira +
•Continuing supporting the clubs activity and regional associations;
•Work more closely with National Teams, with special attention to the women’s sector;
•Reinforce our institutional relations with other sports agents; these are our purposes, our ambition and our determination. Continue to innovate and make things happen, with the objective of serve well the interests of National sports".
FPV President stated also:
“We need a sports politics compromised in improving the value of sports to the country’s affirmation, which will inspire future generations”.
Vicente Araújo talked about the lack of managers in sports and high completion as well."
