Foi It was with a great attitude and team spirit that the Senior Men National Team defeated Belarus 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 25-23, 20-25 e 16-14) and maintain the second position in Pool A of the 2013 European Championship qualifying 2nd tournament being held in Turkey.[Poule A] Tomorrow, Portugal will face Great Britain (16h00 GMT+2). This and the remaining Pool A matches can be followed through live streaming in the Turkish Volleyball Federation website. Portugal played well from the beginning of the match, putting pressure on its opponent, managing very well the advantage gained in the good started, finishing the set at 25-21. The following set however was not favorable to the Portuguese side. Belarus regained confidence and manage to win the set 25-23. The third set was the most balanced one right from the start (3-3, 10-10, 13-13). The final points were crucial, as the Portuguese were able to overcome a two point disadvantage to close the set at 25-23. The fourth set was entirely dominated by Belarus. Viktor Sidelnikov’s team was always in the driving seat in this set (3-6, 14-17, 18-23), so it was not a surprise that they came at the top 25-20. The final set showed the Portuguese will. Losing by 1-4 the National Team put pressure on the service and with an effective attack, they turned things around (8-7) and (12-10). After the reaction of Belarus, (14-12), the match seemed to be over, but Portugal once again managed to extend it a little more, with four consecutive points, winning 16-14. Portuguese Valdir Sequeira was the best scorer with 23 points in this match.
