PORTUGUESE TEAMS IN THE WORLD
UNIVERSITIES BEACH VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Joana Resende/Tânia Oliveira and Januário Silva/Sebastião Alves are set to represent Portugal in the 6th World Universities Beach Volleyball Championship, which starts tomorrow in the Brazilian city of Maceió.

Here will compete more than 40 teams representing 18 countries: Saudi Arabia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Taipei, Slovakia, Spain, United States of America, Japan, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Russia, Switzerland and Tailand.

In the summer of 2013 and 2014, the city of Porto in Portugal will host the 9th European Universities Beach Volleyball Championship and the World Universities Beach Volleyball Championship in a joint organization by the Porto Academic Federation, Polytechnic Institute of Porto and the University Sports Academic Federation.

This will be the 5th time, in 4 years, that the city will host Beach Volleyball international competitions, following the Under-18 European Championship, the Under-19 World Championship, in 2010 and the Under-23 European Championship in 2011.
