WOMEN’S SENIOR TEAM
DEPARTS TOMORROW TO ROMENIA

 

Women’s Senior National Team departs tomorrow from Lisbon heading to the Romanian city of Piatra Neamt, where it will be disputed, (September 6-8), the round 2 qualifying tournament for the next year’s European Championship.

Following this event, there will be a second qualifying tournament in Rovinj-Vabruna (Croatia) from September 13-15.

After today’s practice in the Colégio Internato dos Carvalhos (Vila Nova de Gaia), the team lead by Fernando Luís (Head Coach) and Filipe Lacerda (Assistant Coach), shows itself prepared to take on Great-Britain, Romania and Croatia.

Filipe Lacerda highlights the way the team has been practicing and the importance of this competition.
“The team’s preparation has been great. The first week helped us to know better the newcomers and helped the integration with the players we have been working with for a long time. The group has learned what we want for our team, and so far everything is working well. First we have to prepare the team and then we think about our opponents. Our main goal at this point, is to organize our game plan, and the players are aware of that. Without taking credit from our athletes, we believe that the Romanian and Croatian player’s level is higher than ours, so we have to work harder and have a stronger mentality.”

Daniela Loureiro is the motivated team captain:
“We are working for two weeks now and I believe we’ve worked hard, and we grew as a team. We are aware that we will play very though matches, against very strong opponents, so, we need to work together to overcome the difficulties.
